If you’ve never tried an acai bowl, you should definitely give it a try!

The popular smoothie bowls are nutritious thanks to the antioxidants, fiber, and healthy fats they contain.

But not only are they nutritious, they’re delicious too. This recipe yields a thick, creamy, and refreshing acai bowl!

In just 5 minutes you can whip up your own healthy acai bowl at home. Homemade acai bowls are much cheaper than store-bought ones. Plus, you’ll be fully aware of the ingredients.

Your acai smoothie bowl can be vegan if using plant-based products.

Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy as a healthy breakfast or snack!

This recipe is great to use up frozen summer berries.

The recipe yields two acai bowls, but you can easily halve the recipe to make just one.

What is an Acai Bowl?

Originating in Brazil, the acai bowl is a smoothie bowl made from frozen acai pulp from the acai berry. Pure acai puree has an earthy, cocoa-like, as well as berry-like taste to it. The popular acai bowls add frozen berries, frozen banana, a liquid, and a sweetener.

Acai Bowl Ingredients

This optionally vegan acai bowl recipe is made with just 5 ingredients: frozen or powdered acai, frozen berries of choice, frozen banana, milk of choice, and sweetener of choice.

Don’t forget to have all your favorite toppings on hand that go on top!

Acai Bowl Toppings

  • Granola
  • Seeds (chia seeds, hemp seeds, etc.)
  • Coconut flakes or shredded coconut
  • Fresh (sliced) fruit (banana, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, mango, etc.)
  • Cacao nibs
  • Chocolate chips
  • Chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, pistachios, etc.)
  • Nut butter

How to Make an Acai Bowl

You can make the recipe using frozen or powdered acai.

The recipe is super simple to make. Be sure to thaw frozen acai first and break up into pieces. Then just blend all ingredients until smooth, pour into bowls, top with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

For another healthy breakfast, be sure to try my chia pudding!
