About Christina
Hi, I’m Christina! I’m a German girl living in Kiel, Northern Germany.
I’ve loved baking, cooking, and creating in the kitchen for as long as I can remember. Even as a little girl, I often asked to help in the kitchen. As I grew older, I occupied the kitchen for my baking and cooking experiments. I learned from my parents and my grandmother and taught myself through cookbooks and recipe collections. This passion continues to this day. Since I was born and raised in Southern Germany, my baking and cooking has always been influenced by the South German and Austrian cuisine. But also my travels have heavily inspired me in the kitchen. I have been to lots of countries in Europe, as well as to Australia, Canada, and the United States. As a teenager, I received a package from two friends from Pennsylvania containing a set of U.S. measuring cups and spoons, the original recipe for Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookies, Nestle Toll House chocolate morsels, and a bottle of vanilla extract. These measuring cups and spoons are still in constant use, as I’m obessed with American-style baking and cooking! Thanks to a lifetime connection to Sweden, I’m also a huge fan of the Swedish cuisine.
My favorite place to be is in the kitchen (creating something in the kitchen keeps me sane!), but I also love being outdoors walking, while dreaming of having my own house (with a front porch!), or visiting one of the wonderful weekly markets our city has to offer. I prefer whole, local, seasonal, and organic foods, and I try to include those as much as I can. I like the mindset of becoming more conscious and eco-friendly step by step. In our family, we cook at home almost every day and we do a lot of baking!
About Teatime on the Porch
After being busy building my blog for a while, I finally started Teatime on the Porch in 2022 to share my recipes with you. So this is where you’ll find all my favorite recipes. They have all been carefully tested to work every time you make them. They are approved and easy to follow. They are for you to make them and keep them in your family for generations to come.
On Teatime on the Porch, I publish recipes for baking, cooking, desserts, and beverages. You’ll find everything from healthy to not so healthy, because I find the latter is okay as long as everything is kept in moderation and the ingredients are high-quality. Still, I don’t like it overly sweet. If sugar can be omitted, substituted, or reduced without any loss of taste and texture, then I’ll do it, if I have the chance to test it. I post recipes of all diets except meat, so you’ll find vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, and egg-free options.
My blog’s name is born from my love for American porches. I can hardly imagine anything better than sitting on a porch sipping tea and enjoying something delicious I’ve created in my kitchen!
I post new recipes regularly. I hope that you’ll find something on my blog that will inspire you! If you don’t want to miss out on a new recipe, you can sign up here to receive our free newsletter.
