Healthy Homemade Frappuccino

How to make your own healthy frappuccino at home. You just need 5 ingredients, 5 minutes, and a hand blender!

Frappuccino is a blended frozen coffee drink. It’s a Starbucks invention and sold in a number of different flavors. There are also variations without coffee.

In its original version, Frappuccino is made using ice cubes. This recipe does not use ice cubes, as they would water down the flavor.

Making your own frappuccino at home is so rewarding. It’s much cheaper than a store-bought one and you completely decide on the ingredients used. Apart from that, it’s fun to make and delicious!

Healthy Homemade Frappuccino Ingredients

  • Milk of choice
  • Pure vanilla extract
  • Instant coffee
  • Sweetener of choice
  • Salt
  • For topping (optional): whipped cream or coconut whipped cream and chocolate syrup

Homemade Frappuccino Benefits

As this recipe works with any type of milk, this frappuccino can be vegan when using a plant-based (dairy-free) milk.

Depending on whether you want caffeine in your drink or not, you can choose either regular or decaf instant coffee.

You can decide on the type and amount of sweetener yourself. Options include agave, maple syrup, honey, dates, or sugar.

You can add your preferred toppings or skip the toppings. Both are good, but I highly recommend using toppings. Even the topping can be vegan, if you use a plant-based (dairy-free) whipped cream, such as coconut whipped cream, and a vegan syrup.

How to Make Homemade Frappuccino

Making homemade frappuccino is easy and takes just minutes.

All you need to do is whisk together all ingredients listed above, freeze in one or a few shallow containers or ice cube trays, and blend using a hand blender or blender. I recommend using a hand blender, as it is very easy to clean. But in case you double the recipe, a blender will work better. Pour into a glas or two and top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup, depending on your preference.

Tip: Instead of chocolate syrup, you can use caramel syrup as a topping, or use caramel syrup in addition to chocolate syrup. Chocolate sauce or caramel sauce are also good.

Healthy Homemade Frappuccino

Yields: 1 – 2 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes minutes
How to make your own healthy frappuccino at home. You just need 5 ingredients, 5 minutes, and a hand blender!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk of choice
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon (1 g) instant coffee, regular or decaf
  • Sweetener of choice, such as 1 tablespoon (21 g) agave or 1 1/2 tablespoons (19 g) raw cane sugar, to taste (see notes below!)
  • Pinch of salt

For Topping (Optional)

  • Whipped cream or coconut whipped cream
  • Chocolate syrup

Instructions

  • Whisk all ingredients together.
  • Freeze in one or a few shallow containers or ice cube trays.
  • Once frozen, pop out (you may need to let thaw a bit first, and if using shallow containers, break up into blocks) and place into a beaker or blender. Let thaw a bit to ensure that the hand blender or blender is able to handle it.
  • Blend until a slushy consistency is reached.
  • Pour into a glas or two and top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup, or other toppings, if desired.

Notes

Sweetener: You can also use maple syrup or honey to sweeten your frappuccino. The amount of sweetener will depend on the type of milk used, your taste preference, and the type of sweetener used.
This recipe is easily doubled, or even tripled or quadrupled.
