How to make your own iced coffee at home. Save this best iced coffee recipe for any warm summer caffeine break that might come up!
Iced coffee is a complete necessity on warm summer days, and this simple iced coffee recipe is the answer to your hot summer caffeine break.
This easy recipe delivers an iced coffee that is non-watery and super quick to make at any time you might spontaneously crave an iced coffee like from a coffee shop.
The Best Iced Coffee Recipe
The secret to the best iced coffee is not to use regular ice cubes. Ices cubes will make your iced coffee end up watery, at least when the heat kicks in and you want to enjoy your drink outdoors. So the trick is to use coffee ice cubes instead. That way the ice cubes won‘t dilute your drink. Which in other words means no matter how hot it gets, this homemade iced coffee won‘t water down.
However, at lower temperatures, I would still not be averse to making iced coffee the traditional way and using regular ice cubes, chilled coffee, and milk. Just make sure to then use strong coffee for the best results.
The coffee ice cube method is just the perfect way to go when it’s really hot out. And the recipe takes just seconds to make as soon as you have your coffee ice cubes on hand. Which means that you can instantly whip it up whenever an iced coffee craving hits.
Making the drink yourself gives you full control over the amount of sweetener and the level of sweetness, which is a huge benefit.
How to Make the Best Iced Coffee
Brew coffee, sweeten it to your liking, allow to cool for a bit, pour into an ice cube tray, and freeze (you can read more on this in the recipe notes section of the recipe card down below).
To make your iced coffee, place the coffee ice cubes into a glass, then pour the milk over. The coffee ice cubes will melt into the milk (how quick will depend on the temperature at your place).
For a vegan iced coffee, substitute your favorite non-dairy milk.
Tip: To make a flavored iced coffee, like a caramel, vanilla, or chocolate iced coffee, just add about 2 teaspoons of the desired syrup to your drink at the end. Be sure to then skip the sweetener in the brewed coffee beforehand.
